The Evaluation Process
In a one-year-long process, and with your help, we are determining whether the existing terminology in the Minimal Standard Terminology and in digital endoscopic documentation systems are correct or can be made more specific. Defining and developing further terminology is particularly important in being able to use accurate terminology in representing and documenting endoscopic examination procedures. Therefore, the Minimal Standard Terminology will be supplemented and completed by your ideas and suggestions from the practice of colonoscopy and gastroscopy. After the completion of the evaluation process, the complete and improved Minimal Standard Terminology 4.0 will be available free of charge on the WEO website.
Due to continuous advances in endoscopy and its technical implementation, the WEO regularly publishes the Minimal Standard Terminology. This medical terminology provides uniform diagnoses and therapies around the world. It is also used in endoscopy software. In cooperation with Olympus, the WEO researches the acceptance and accuracy of the current Minimal Standard Terminology. The aim of the evaluation is to find and unify possible proposals for both the improvement and differentiation of the terminology used in endoscopic examinations.
